2ND Quarter_Week 2-3_Activity 1
Activity 1
1. You were not able
to prepare for your graded report in Oral Communication. Mr. Reyes, then calls
you to go to the front and start your presentation. How are you going to
explain your situation to your teacher?
I will first calm down and stop myself
from panicking. After doing so, I will truthfully say to Mr. Reyes that I
didn’t have the chance to prepare for the presentation. I will then
respectfully ask him for an extension for my report. If he accepted my request,
I will thank him. On the other hand, if he rejected my request, I will keep an open heart and accept it without hate as it is my fault in the first place.
2. Your cousin, Karl,
calls you over the phone and tells you that he cannot help you in your errand
because he needs to do something for his school project. What will you tell him
to convince him to spare you a bit of his time and that you need to buy the
surprise birthday gift for your father?
I will not get angry as it is not
his obligation to help me pick a surprise birthday gift for my father. Even so,
I will still try to convince him to help me if my father’s birthday is near. I
will tell him about the importance of my father’s birthday to me. After that, I
will politely offer to help him with his school project in exchange for his
help in buying the present. If he still rejects, I will accept his answer and
will not overstep his boundaries.
3. You are about to
start with your report which you have failed to prepare for when your mother
calls you on your mobile phone. How are you going to respond to your mother?
What will you tell her?
I am not that open with my mother
regarding my personal problems. Every time I open up, she always tries to shut
me out. Even so, she is open when it comes to my grades. I will honestly tell
her that I failed and will proceed to apologize to her. I will not tell her any
excuses because excuses only provide redirection from the main problem. I will
tell her that I will do my best not to repeat the same mistake, and she will
then give me space and time that I need for reflecting.
4. You are in the
middle of your discussion about the Tree-Planting Initiative of your school but
you notice that the District Supervisor is not really paying attention to what
you are saying. How will you address the Supervisor respectfully?
First, I will redirect my topic
to the topic of his help to the school project. By mentioning his contribution,
he will then pay attention to what I am saying. From then on, I will
continuously engage him in the discussion by asking him questions from time to
time about the Tree-Planting Initiative. With this roundabout approach, I will
be able to address the issue without being disrespectful.
5. You are already on
your way home when your best friend. Diego, approaches you and asks for your
help with his graded report tomorrow. You know that you need to go home early
because of the surprise birthday party for your father but you also see the
concerned look on your best friend. What will you do and what are you going to
tell Diego?
I will tell him the truth that I need to prioritize my father’s surprise birthday party. Even so, I will still offer him my help by telling him that I will contact him online later that day. After the party, I will contact Diego and help him with his work through video calls. If possible, I will try to go to his house personally after the party and help him with his work. If not, I will proceed to my original plan, which is via messaging.
