2ND Quarter_Week 1_Discussion Q1-Q3

Q1. How do you usually start a conversation?

It depends on my level of intimacy with the other person in question. If they are someone I am close to, I usually start my conversation with them by saying random and casual remarks. From then on, our topics will wander from subject to subject until both of us have talked our hearts out. When it comes to a person I just met or to an acquaintance, I am very cordial with my greetings with a slight hint of awkwardness. I’ll usually ask them general questions about themselves, and after a few reciprocations, I will end the conversation briefly.

Q2. Give a specific problem that you encountered during a conversation and how did you address it?

I have a very close set of friends, and we would always hang out after school. During our meetups, we would talk about pretty much everything. Our interests vary, so there are times where not all of us can relate to a specific topic. When this happens, I try to add some things into the conversation that they can relate to, and whenever I can't understand the topic, they will help me out as well. We do this to deepen our understanding of one another, and I find it very sweet.

Q3. Recall an instance where you engaged in a conversation with a topic that you are not comfortable with? What is the topic and how did you manage it?

My siblings and I were talking with each other when my sister suddenly confronted me about my atheism, and from the moment that the topic came up, I know that an argument will ensue, and one of us is bound to get frustrated. She told me about how my lack of faith is all because of the fucked up things that had happened in our family, and then she started rambling on how close-minded and young I was. I just kept silent the entire time with a blank stare because I know that speaking will only spark the flames even more. I have always kept my beliefs all to myself because I do not want to force them on other people. Everyone is entitled to our own beliefs, and I respect that, but I do not understand why other people are adamant about cramming theirs into my head.
