1ST Quarter_Week 1_Reflection

Score: 17/20

1.      How do you describe the elements of communication?

The elements of communication are essential in order to create the proper setting or condition for communication. The speaker relays their encoded message to the receiver using the words, writings or actions to which the receiver then decodes the message received. After decoding the message, the receiver gives their feedback to the speaker and the exchange of words/interaction continues. The remaining two elements include the context wherein the conversation took place and barrier which refers to the factors that can cause misinterpretation of the message given.

2.      Can the process of communication be completed even without the presence of a single element of communication? Why or why not?

No. Communication is the exchange of words/interactions between two or more people. Without a speaker or receiver, a conversation won’t take place. Of course message is essential as it is the topic of the said conversation. Not only that, encoding is important as it refers to the way the speaker can make their message comprehensible to the receiver while decoding is needed in order for the receiver to interpret the message so that they can provide a feedback. Without feedback, then the speaker won’t be able to know if the receiver got the message given. Lastly, contexts are always a given in communication while barriers are an unavoidable element of communication.

3.      Cite at least one communication situation and identify the elements in the presented situation.
