In your own words, what are the different types of speech according to purpose and delivery?

 

1. Types of Speech According to Purpose

a. Informative or Expository Speech

This type of speech is conducted when the speaker’s goal is to educate and give new information to the audience. 

            b. Persuasive Speech

This type of speech is conducted when the speaker’s goal is to persuade the audience to agree with their opinion about a particular topic.   

c. Entertainment Speech

This type of speech is conducted when the speaker’s goal is to give enjoyment to the audience by making them laugh and entertained through either comedic or witty lines.

2. Types of Speech According to Delivery

            a. Manuscript Speech

It is a type of speech that is conducted by the speaker by reading a written text verbatim to the audience.

            b. Memorized Speech

It is a type of speech that is conducted by memorizing a written text and reciting them to the audience.

            c. Extemporaneous Speech

It is a type of speech that is conducted with prior preparations and rehearsals by the speaker and is spoken conversationally with the help of cue cards.

            d. Impromptu Speech

It is a type of speech that is the opposite of extemporaneous speech. It has no prior preparation and is conducted by speakers that are educated about a particular topic.
